Contact
We would love to hear from you, and we should say this first: WhatWay is a small volunteer project rather than a help line, and nobody is watching the inbox overnight. If this is an emergency, call 911. If you need somebody today, 211 is free, answers around the clock in most of the country, and can put you through to a person who knows your area.

Say hello
Write to us at whatway2026@gmail.com. A real person reads every message, and we are glad to hear from you. We are students and clinicians doing this around our own work, so give us a few days to come back to you, and a little longer around exams.
One kind request: please keep your own documents to yourself. There is no need to send medical records, immigration paperwork, case numbers or anything about your status, and we would rather you did not, because an ordinary email inbox is not a safe place to keep them. Telling us what you were looking for and could not find is all we need, and it is the thing that actually helps the next person.
Tell us about a place
If something here is wrong, or a place you know is missing, these two forms are the quickest way to reach us. They go to the same people as the email and they ask for the handful of details a volunteer needs in order to check a listing, which saves everybody a round of questions.
Those forms are run by Google, so whatever you type into them goes to Google and is covered by Google's terms rather than by our privacy policy. What that means.
If you work at a clinic, school or legal aid office
We would be glad to list you. Use the same form, or just email us. The three things worth telling us are the languages you work in, whether you can see people without insurance or without papers, and your hours. Those are what the search is built around, and they are the three most often missing from the public listings we can find on our own.
Where our help ends
We wish we could do more, and it is only fair to be clear about what we cannot: we are not able to give medical, legal or immigration advice, book an appointment for you, or speak to an organisation on your behalf. What WhatWay can do is tell you which places exist and how to reach them; the rest is between you and them. The terms say the same thing at greater length.
Press and research
Same address. The project, its data sources and the way the search works are described on the About page, which answers many common questions.
