Privacy policy
You do not need an account. We never ask your immigration status. We do not keep what you search for, and we do not keep your phone number.

What we do not collect
There is no sign-up, no login, no email field, and no name field anywhere on this site. We do not ask for your immigration status, citizenship, visa, or documents, and there is nowhere to enter them. We do not try to work them out from anything else you do here.
We do not sell anything, we run no advertising, and we have no advertising or analytics trackers on this site.
What happens when you search
Your question is sent to our server so it can be matched against the directory. It is used to answer you and is not written to a database. We do not build a profile of you and we cannot connect one search to another.
The matching runs on Cloudflare, which hosts this site. Cloudflare keeps short-lived operational logs the way any web host does, covered by their own privacy terms.
Your question and AI
Part of the matching is done by AI, so your question passes through an AI service to be turned into a numerical form the directory can be searched against. That service runs on Cloudflare's own infrastructure as part of this site, not a third-party chatbot you are talking to.
Your questions are not used to train any model, by us or by anyone else, and they are not stored after the search finishes.
One sentence of each answer is written by a language model. The facts around it are copied from our database, never generated. No AI makes any decision about you: there is no profiling, no scoring, and nothing assesses your eligibility or status. The terms explain exactly where AI is used.
Please do not type your full name, your address, your A-number, or your case details into the search. You never need to, the search only needs what you want and roughly where, and it is good practice not to put anything identifying into any search box anywhere.
The WhatsApp number is not open to the public yet. When it opens, it will work like this:
- Your phone number
- Never stored and never written to a log. It is immediately turned into a one-way scrambled value using a secret key, and only that value is used.
- A counter, so one number cannot flood the service
- Keyed to the scrambled value, deleted automatically after two minutes.
- Whether you said STOP
- Keyed to the scrambled value, kept for a year so we do not message you again. Reply STOP at any time.
- Your messages
- Not stored.
WhatsApp itself is run by Meta, not by us. Meta can see that you messaged this number, and their privacy terms apply to that, not ours. If that matters to you, use this website instead: it does not involve Meta at all.
What stays on your device
If you press Save on a place, it is written into this browser's own storage, along with any note you add. That is the one thing this site keeps, and it is kept on your phone or computer: it is never sent to us, there is no account holding it, and we cannot read it. The search itself works exactly the same whether you save anything or not.
The practical consequence is worth saying plainly. A list of which immigration lawyers or shelters someone looked up is sensitive, and anyone who can unlock the device can read it. If you share a phone, or you are worried about who else might use it, erase the list when you are done. Clearing your browser\'s site data removes it too, and so does a private window, which keeps nothing from the moment you close it.
Who else sees anything
These are the only third parties involved, and what reaches each one:
- Cloudflare
- Hosts the site and runs the search. Sees requests, as any host does.
- Google Maps
- Only once you open the map view for a specific place. At that point Google receives that request, including your IP address. The list view never contacts Google. Directions links go to Google only when you tap one.
- Google Forms
- Only if you choose to suggest a place or report a wrong listing. Whatever you type into that form goes to Google, and the form is covered by Google's terms rather than this policy.
- Meta
- Only on WhatsApp, once that channel opens. Not involved on this website.
The places we list
Listings describe organisations that already serve the public. We do not tell any clinic, school, or legal service that you looked them up, and we do not pass your details to them. If you call or walk in, that is between you and them.
Children
This site is for anyone looking for help, including parents looking on behalf of a child. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we collect none from children either.
Asking us to delete something
There is almost nothing to delete, because almost nothing is kept. The exceptions are the two WhatsApp values above, both keyed to a scrambled value we cannot turn back into your phone number. If you want the opt out flag cleared, message us from the same number and ask.

Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, the date at the top changes. We keep an internal change history so the policy and the software that implements it can be reviewed together.
WhatWay is applying for 501(c)(3) status and is not yet a registered nonprofit. This policy describes what the software actually does today, and it has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.
